an annual report from Planet Old People
A society which worships youth, productivity and performance is aging. A problem for Western society or a challenge? Medical advances have significantly prolonged human life, the attributes of youth are still at the forefront of the values we profess, and our time has become inward-looking – it is so easy to succumb to the illusion of one’s own dauntlessness and immortality. It is tempting to block out subjects linked with aging. Or it is possible to search within them for a lost perspective on our own finite nature and a testimony to profound human experience.
This original production is a probe into the subjects of aging, old age and the banishment of death as well as a personal intergenerational account. An adventurous voyage to the end of the world and beyond the horizon of time. Memento mori? No more!
