Milada Rezková, Štěpán Gajdoš & Studio 60+
And when will I finally stop being afraid?
It hides under the bed when we sleep. It hides in the curtains, which suddenly flutter in the draft. It waits in the corners of abandoned houses and in the silence before an important decision. It makes our knees buckle at heights, whispering in our ears before every step into the unknown. It accompanies us on the first day of school, the first day at a new job, and—lo and behold—even the first day of retirement.
From time to time, each of us encounters fear—whether we are five or eighty. It walks through life with us, wearing a different face at every age. It grows, shrinks, stretches, disappears, and reappears—like shadows that lose their frightening form in the morning and turn into ordinary things around us. Sometimes it needs to be fought, and other times it is enough to simply accept it. Although we were always told that only the weak are afraid, and success awaits the fearless.
Members of Studio 60+, the amateur senior ensemble at Divadlo Husa na provázku , are bravely embarking for the third time on an adventurous journey of original creation. This time, in dialogue with Milada Rezková’s children's book Don’t Be Afraid!, they will work with objects and their shadows to confront their own fears and uncertainties, demonstrating that even the most experienced can feel afraid. The production is therefore intended for everyone brave enough to be afraid—from five to one hundred and fifty years old!
Štěpán Gajdoš (b. 1997) focuses primarily on original productions in his work and is also drawn to theatre for children and young audiences.
